For Family Movie Night this week, we watched a film that is arguably Robert Rodriguez’s best work. It launched the acting careers of both USHER and FAST AND THE FURIOUS darling JORDANA BREWSTER and is to thank for ELIJAH WOOD’s hobbit career. We’re talking THE FACULTY.

What did I love about THE FACULTY?

  • Josh Hartnett is a pen and condom dealer who is also a brilliant scientist and I finally understand how every girl in my middle school came to love him even though his hair is combed both forwards and backward.

  • Jon Stewart is in this movie and at one point talks about getting a pencil stuck in his eye and lo and behold later in the movie that very thing happens.

  • Elijah Wood drinking juice boxes.

  • I got to see Frasier Crane’s ex-wife Lilith really let loose.

  • Apparently, becoming a host for slug aliens makes you extra beautiful because everyone went from frizzy hair to shiny hair and a smokey eye.

  • The soundtrack includes a cover of Alice Cooper’s “I’m Eighteen” by CREED.
