Bonus
Fantastic Fest is upon us, so if you’re going with a badge or standby here are some movies I’m excited about.
The Ice Tower - Lucile Hadžihalilović is doing Frozen and she’s back with Marion Cotillard who she previously worked with on Innocence.
Reflection in a Dead Diamond - from the duo that brought you The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears and Let the Corpses Tan. Just like those this is an homage film but this time spy thrillers.
Deathstalker - Steven Kostanski is remaking the 1983 movie. If you love PG: Psycho Goreman or Frankie Freako this is a very exciting prospect.
The Piano Accident - New absurdist comedy by Quentin Dupieux. Gotta catch em all.
Silencio - New movie from Eduardo Casanova the Spanish Wunderkind Enfant terrible
Director of the absurdist body horror movie Skins and previously won the jury award with 2022's Piety.
Luger - Starring Mario Mayo from I'll Crush Y'all. This time fighting fascists.
Bulk - Ben Wheatley who made Kill List, Free Fire, High-Rise, A Field in England is back with a movie about a scientist whose brane explodes. That’s not a typo.
Sirat - One of the buzziest movies to come out of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Obsession - Did you see Milk and Serial on YouTube? This is a feature by the same group. It seems that comedians make good horror movies.
Dildo Heaven - 2002 Doris Wishman movie. Bringing the director of Nude on the Moon to the 21st century .
Dracula - it’s the new Radu Jude movie but the real draw is that it’s about a filmmaker in Romania trying to make Dracula using AI.
