This Week in Screenings 9/1-9/6

Friday 9/1

2001: A Space Odyssey | Alamo Drafthouse

I mean you don’t wanna see this not in a theater.

The Incredibles | Cinemark

I like the fashion designer part of this movie.

Blade Runner: The Final Cut | Alamo Drafthouse

I can’t keep up with all the “Cuts” I guess this is one of the good ones?

I mean, I like the movie each time I see it.

Blade Runner 2049 | Alamo Drafthouse

The new Blade Runner.

Cade – The Tortured Crossing | Alamo Drafthouse

They added more screenings. I've seen a lot of “bad” movies that people like to watch but this one is something special.

Full Metal Jacket | Alamo Drafthouse

Vincent D'Onofrio does that face and the camera zooms in just like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

Kubrick loves doing that.

OMG do you think it’s a Psycho reference?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix | Alamo Drafthouse

I don’t remember this one at all. I’m gonna call it, this was a filler movie/book.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Double Feature | Cinemark

They are playing them separately later in the week.

Kung Fu Panda 2 | Alamo Drafthouse

I was watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and thinking about how the creators must have really felt dumb that they didn’t come up with this as one of the mutants. It’s so obvious.

The Trial | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

Orson Welles directed starring Anthony Perkins and Jeanne Moreau.

I’m embarrassed that I haven’t see this yet.

CONTEMPT | Austin Film Society

This was the first Jean-Luc Godard movie I ever saw.

It’s good.

SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY | Austin Film Society

Part of the Lates series.

Pop Star steals money from the Yakuza.

From the director of All About Lily Chou-Chou.

If you’ve been following Lates.

Saturday 9/2

Castle in the Sky (Dubbed) | Alamo Drafthouse

They are also playing the subtitled version so be sure to check which one you want.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World | Alamo Drafthouse

Good books good movie.

A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH | Austin Film Society

I like when movies have lighthearted fantastic views of what happens when you die.

Ingrid Goes West + The Talented Mr. Ripley Double Feature | Alamo Drafthouse

Nia DaCosta director of the 2021 Candyman and the upcoming The Marvels is curating a series of double features

I think this is a great pairing. Even though you know they are wrong you still sympathize with them cause the object of their obsession is so much more privileged than they are.

Labyrinth | Paramount Theatre

I always thought he said “kick the baby, make him pee.”

The Wicker Man: The Final Cut | Alamo Drafthouse

Another chance to hear that beautiful soundtrack.

And see that naked lady dance.

What's Up Doc | Paramount Theatre

Presented by Robert Rodriguez

Closing out the Summer Classic Film Series with one of the best screwball comedies

Sunday 9/3

They Live 35th Anniversary | Regal | Cinemark | AMC

Make sure you bring extra bubblegum.

THE GOONIES | Galaxy Theatre

Hey you guys, it’s the Goonies for $5.

It’s also playing both Blue Starlite locations if you’d rather see it in your car. No shade.

The Twilight Zone: The Movie | Blue Starlite Central

So many parts of this movie are seared into my mind forever.

I’m ok with that for the most part.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom | Blue Starlite Central

What a great opening sequence though, right.

Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701 Violet Crown Cinema

Hyperreal presents Japanese woman in prison movie.

At the Violet Crown no less.

There’s a movie poster swap in the lounge before so bring any you got and swap ‘em.

Clue Movie Party | Alamo Drafthouse

Flames on the side of my face.

Tuesday 9/5

I'M NO ANGEL | Austin Film Society

Part of the Essential Cinema series.

Everyone should see a Mae West movie.

Plus Cary Grant is in this.

The Craft | Alamo Drafthouse

Part of the Terror Tuesday series.

Sold out but maybe check, someone might have given up their seat.

Wednesday 9/6

PERFECT BLUE 25th ANNIVERSARY | Galaxy Theatres | Cinemark | Regal | AMC

It’s like such a perfect ‘90s thriller you’d think David Lynch directed it with Paul Verhoeven.

The Plug Lady | Alamo Drafthouse

Part of the Weird Wednesday series.

This is gonna be a movie watching experience.

Elizabeth Purchell is bringing us the best content.

Thursday 9/7

After all that I’m tired. I’m glad they gave us a day off.

I’m gonna play Baldur’s Gate 3 .
