This Week in Screenings 4/14-4/20 (blaze it)
Friday 4/14
The Cabin in the Woods | Blue Starlite Mueller
No car needed to see Ziah’s favorite movie. With live fog!
Editor’s note: No, it’s not.
Saturday 4/15
Superman (1978) | Alamo Drafthouse Cinemark
Also playing at Regal on 4/18 and you can make it a double feature with Superman II.
Or if you wanna see both at the Alamo you can on 4/16.
These movies just aren’t as much fun on TV.
This will play again at the downtown location 4/23 in case that’s more convenient.
I always forget that this is Gus Van Sant.
Sunday 4/16
The Big Lebowski | Regal | Cinemark
It’s not the best Coen Brothers movie, but it’s the most quotable.
Dazed and Confused | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
Yet again you can be Dazed and Confused.
Selena Movie Party | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
Celebrate Selena’s Birthday with a Movie Party.
All Movie No Party.
I've never seen this. Maybe this will be the year.
Monday 4/17
Popcorn | Hyperreal Film Club Presents at Hotel Vegas
What a great pick for a film club. Slasher set in a movie marathon. Bunch a film nerds getting killed 5 years before Scream.
Belly | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
Hype Williams movie starring Nas, DMX, Method Man and T-Boz!
Part of the Al Pacino series they are doing. I've never seen this but it reminds me of a movie Adam Sandler’s character would make in Funny People.
Mandy | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
To quote a friend, “Love the blend of the mythic with mundane.”
MEMORIES OF MURDER | Austin Film Society
This made me realize Bong Joon-ho is amazing.
Tuesday 4/18
Gremlins 2: The New Batch | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
Part of the Terror Tuesday series.
Gregg Araki’s 1995 dark comedy. Like the coolest of the 1990s.
MEEK'S CUTOFF | Austin Film Society
Park of the Kelly Reichardt series. Western with Michelle Williams and Paul Dano
Wednesday 4/19
A Life on the Farm | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
Documentary about the most peculiar VHS tape anyone has ever found.
Chop & Steele with Live Q&A | Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
Documentary about how the guys from Found Footage Festival got sued because they pranked local news stations.
Psychedelic fairytale with mice drunk on blood tea.
Part of the Weird Wednesday Series.
O SANGUE | Austin Film Society
Pedro Costa’s first movie. Black and white movie about two brothers struggling to survive after their father dies. If you’re into that sort of thing.
Thursday 4/20
Dazed and Confused | Blue Starlite Downtown
This movie is really making the rounds this year. But if you want to watch in your car on 4/20…
I’m gay and I watch a lot of movies
