This Week in Screenings 3/24-3/30
Friday 3/24
Paul Newman Westerns | Austin Film Society
Ethan Hawke is in town presenting 5 westerns starring Paul Newman starting Friday running through Sunday. They are sold out but AFS will have stand-by lists at each screening so you can show up early and check in at the box office.
Encino Man | Blue Starlite Mueller Drive In
Starring Academy Award winning Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan.
I’m a big fan of Madeline Kahn in this.
Saturday 3/25
Real Genius Brunch | Alamo Drafthouse
This movie is rated PG but they mention a penis in it so it was the dirtiest movie I had ever seen at the time.
Clueless | Blue Starlite Mueller Drive In
I will always like Amy Heckerling for making this movie.
35th Anniversary showing.
Sunday 3/26
Speed Racer | Alamo Drafthouse
The forgotten Wachowski Sisters movie.
This is one of those movies I feel I should watch at least once so why not in a theater.
Monday 3/27
Sold out but what a rowdy great time this will be.
Directed by Keanu Reeves.
Tuesday 3/28
The Curse of Kazuo Umezu | Alamo Drafthouse
Part of the Terror Tuesday Series. 1990’s scary anime for adults.
COMPUTER CHESS | Austin Film Society
My favorite Andrew Bujalski movie.
RIVER OF GRASS | Austin Film Society
AFS will be showing the first five feature films by Kelly Reichardt.
Editor’s note: there’s also Me Without You as part of the A Woman of Taste Presents at Sekrit Theater
Wednesday 3/29
DON'T LOOK NOW | Austin Film Society
Everyone needs to see this movie. So we can talk about it without spoiler warnings
Part of the Weird Wednesday Series. If you haven’t seen it yet you really should.
Thursday 3/30
Holes | Blue Starlite Mueller Drive In
This was one of my favorite Young Adult Books.
