This Week in Screenings 3/9-3/16

Friday 3/10

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off | Blue Starlite Drive-in Downtown

Even Ben Stein looks like a baby in this.

Saturday 3/11

My Own Private Idaho | Alamo Drafthouse

Is this the best Gus Van Sant movie?

Grosse Pointe Blank | Blue Starlite Mueller

Charming movie about an assassin.

Sunday 3/12

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (1990) | Galaxy Theatre

The original and some say best. Although I love the second one with the Vanilla Ice song. Also playing Wednesday.

Dazed and Confused | Hyperreal Film Club @ French Legation

Free outdoor event to celebrate the 4k release from Criterion. Complimentary beverages Doors at 7pm Movie at 8pm. Remember when Spring Break would roll around in Austin and there would be a lot of free shows. This is like Inception-level Austin nostalgia.

Monday 3/13

Johnny Mnemonic in Black and White | Alamo Drafthouse

This looks so cool in Black and White.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Movie Party | Alamo Drafthouse

Whoa indeed.

Tuesday 3/14

The Matrix Reloaded / Revolutions Double Feature | Alamo Drafthouse

Since you watched the first one last week why not finish up the series with a double feature.

Homeward Bound at the Bullock Texas Spirit Theater

It’s in the Texas Spirit Theater which is a multi-sensory experience but I don’t know if this show will include rumble seats. Austin Humane Society will have puppies in the lobby. This is advertised as a kid event.

Wednesday 3/15

Spring Breakers | Alamo Drafthouse

Best Brittany Spears sing along since Crossroads.

Thursday 3/16

A lot of locations are exclusively SXSW all week so if you don’t have a wristband or a badge maybe pick a smaller title and get in standby. There’s a good chance if it’s not one of the big movies at The Paramount, you’ll get in.
