This Week in Screenings 11/17-11/23
Part of the Lates series.
I missed this when AGFA played it at Fantastic Fest so I’m very excited for this opportunity.
Saturday 11/18
Home Alone | Blue Starlite Central
It can be fun to be home alone sometimes.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation | Blue Starlite Downtown
The first of many screenings I’m sure.
Tom Hanks double feature voted on by the audience.
I’d vote for Joe Versus The Volcano.
Yet another opportunity to see this Neil Breen modern-day classic.
Sunday 11/19
I’m too old to be nostalgic for this movie. For me it was just that creepy uncanny valley movie.
Elf Movie Party | Alamo Drafthouse
Another movie you will have ample opportunity to see this season.
Saving Private Ryan 25th Anniversary | Cinemark | Regal
Probably didn’t play at Hanksgiving.
3D Noir? I’ve never seen this but the poster is great. Really explains what 3D is gonna look like.
Monday 11/20
Planes, Trains & Automobiles | Alamo Drafthouse
Also playing at Cinepolis on Wednesday
I was such a big John Candy fan as a kid.
He’s so good in this and pretty much everything.
Tuesday 11/21
Did you know they remade this in 2006 with Peter Dinklage as the kid’s dad?
They created that character ‘cause it’s not in this one.
There is a letterboxd review that says, “well-played by Dwarf Peter Dinklage” and I think about that all the time. Like why did they feel the need to use that descriptor and why did they capitalize it.
It was a 2 star review.
This movie is great though, see it if you can.
Part of the Terror Tuesday series.
Thanksgiving Slasher.
They really should play this every year.
Wednesday 11/22
Weirdo Mystery Movie | Alamo Drafthouse
Part of the Weird Wednesday series.
I hope this is that animated thing they keep hinting at.
Thursday 11/23
1966 documentary questioning who really killed JFK.
I heard it was Ted Cruz’s dad.
Not a lot of repertory screenings this week. Probably because there are so many new movies out right now.
Also that Letterboxd review was in December 2021 it’s not like people didn’t know who Peter Dinklage was. Game of Thrones ended in 2019. He was in Cyrano that year. It was nominated for an Oscar. Sure it was for costume, but there were so many trailers.
Anyway.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m gay and I watch a lot of movies
