To quote my own letterboxd review, “if you would’ve told me 18 months ago a movie about men getting laid would become my favorite breakup movie I would’ve beat you with a hammer.” This movie came to me in the trenches of the great Leo venus retrograde of summer 2023 and to simply put it, I felt seen. Jon Favreau’s character Mike is left wondering if he made the right choice leaving his girlfriend of 6 years in New York for his struggling comedy career in LA. And just like Mike, I was plagued with a heartbreak I could not shut the fuck up about for months. The one that’s not clean! The one that doesn’t feel like it has an obvious reason to help move on. But just like my amazing and lovely two best girlfriends, his friends were there supporting him every step of the way, reminding him that he was in fact, Money. This movie slapped me in the face and reminded me there is a life to look forward to after heartbreak. Sometimes all it takes is a vent to your besties, a night at the club, and patience. Lift your head up queen, your crown is falling! —Gracie James
