Matt Johnson's mind needs to be studied. His filmography is broad, spanning comedies, biopics, and dramas on relevant subjects. But Nirvanna is different: a movie that feels like it shouldn't exist at a time when big-screen comedies needed it most. I caught the premiere of this at SXSW 2025, and when I tell you I had been singing it's praises since that electric midnight premiere, it was so nice to finally see this thing escape containment and to see that the world loved it just as much as I did. A movie about friendship, realising your dreams, and maybe going to a different time entirely and seeing if maybe that can help you course-correct your life as a whole.
