I’ve come back from Lebanon and had people ask me what it was like being back in civilisation. Corrupt regimes, war, homophobia, and misogyny don’t stop people from living. It doesn’t stop them from falling in love with other girls at protests. Doesn’t stop them from making loud and angry music. It just makes them go about it differently.

This film beautifully intertwines the country’s garbage crisis and the port explosion with regular things like parties, breakup haircuts, and staying out past curfew.
