The second installment of Gregg Araki’s Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy brings us his first “heterosexual film.” When Rose McGowan and Araki darling James Duval set out on a road trip, they get more than they bargained for after picking up hitchhiker Jonathan Schaech, who causes them to question everything about themselves.

Araki’s knack for exploring the wastelands of America was greatly heightened by his new ability to hire a professional film crew and cast some of the most captivating performers of the mid-1990s. Diet Coke–flavored sex and crystal meth–coated violence make this film feel distinct and original—it’s truly like nothing you’ve seen before.

This film isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you bring enough Doritos and two contenders for a tumultuous threesome, it might just be the best night of your life.
