Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is a film that needs no introduction. Generally considered the progenitor of blockbuster cinema, part of the inevitable franchising included sequels. Jaws 2 was successful and generally well-received by sequel standards, but the machine kept on rolling as series stars Roy Scheider and Lorraine Gary opted not to return as Martin and Ellen Brody for the inevitable third film. Naturally this means that the new film stars their now-adult son Mike (Dennis Quaid) who now works at SeaWorld, and being a Brody means that inevitably, somehow a rampaging shark finds its way into the park to keep the family on their toes. Being 1983, of course, this movie could only exist as Jaws 3-D, following in the footsteps of contemporaries such as the Friday the 13th and Amityville series. 3D movies are always most fun with a crowd, and this movie launches chum buckets full of fun 80s effects right at the audience. You can’t have shark week without some Jaws representation, so see this misunderstood gem the way it was meant to be seen!
