Tired of moving from town to town because of her impulsive mother, Charlotte (Ryder) finds herself living in a small Massachusetts town where she can both explore her burgeoning identity as a devout Catholic (She’s Jewish.) and her fastly growing sexual desire for the older, local church groundskeeper. Rachel (Cher) is a single and freethinking mother trying to juggle motherhood in the 1960s while staying true to herself when she meets Lou (Bob Hoskins), who wants nothing more than to be a part of her chaotic family dynamic. 

Passionate mother/daughter fights will be had, messy coming-of-age mistakes will be made, and finger foods will be served.
