7:00 ~ Doors
7:30 ~ SORCERER
The year is 1977. A film is released that will go on to inspire dozens of cinephiles, become a pop culture smash, and become arguably one of the most well-known films in the entire world. That movie was Star Wars, but we don't care about that. Released at the same time, and almost immediately panned by critics and flopping at the box office, was William Friedkin's magnum opus Sorcerer.
With Roy Scheider leading a cast of largely unknowns, this anxiety-inducing nightmare of a film is a jaw-dropping watch on the big screen. Four men drive a truck full of explosives through a forest, up a mountain, and across a river during a tropical storm. Friedkin filmed this by, more or less, doing exactly that without the explosives. Don't miss the rare chance to see this unforgettable film in a theater and imagine the world where this became as big as Star Wars.
