FEMINIST HORROR WEEK NIGHT TWO: IT’S IN THE SHADOWS
The vitals:
7:00 ~ Doors
7:30 ~ Mold - Directed by Ramiyah Nevaeh Brooks
Director's description: When a reoccurring infectious mold comes back, a young man must decide to take action before it takes over his mind.
Followed by: A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT
In the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, a place that reeks of death and loneliness, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire.
A little mold, a lonely vampire, and something lurking just beyond the light. It’s in the Shadows pairs Ramiyah Nevaeh Brooks’ unsettling short Mold with Ana Lily Amirpour’s hypnotic A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, where a silent vampire glides through the streets of Bad City, watching, waiting, and deciding who deserves her attention. As Amirpour puts it, “A vampire is so many things: serial killer, a romantic, a historian, a drug addict – they're sort of all these things in one.” Together, the films ask what happens when something unfamiliar takes hold and begins to change the world around it. Join Cynthia Muñoz for Night Two of Feminist Horror Week as the INVASIVE SPECIES 2 invasion creeps deeper into film.
