About The Author

Ryan Darbonne is an award-winning filmmaker, stage director, and improviser based in Austin, TX. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to building and empowering communities through art. In 2011, he created the repertory film series Cinema41 which sought to decolonize arthouse cinema by providing free screenings of indie films, conversations with the filmmakers, and panel discussions.

He has been an Austin Film Society grant recipient three years in a row and a 2019 AFS Artist Intensive Fellow. His new film, ‘What They Found’ is currently in its festival run.
