Forget what you think you know about possession films; throw it out the window with your holy water, crucifixes, and bible verses. From Argentinian director, Demián Rugna, When Evil Lurks ignores all the traditions of prior possession films and introduces audiences to something altogether new, a frightening unfamiliar reality that weaves an exciting horror experience for both old and new fans of the genre.  The rules to survive the demonically possessed, or “the rotten”, that spread through a rural community like a plague seem simple enough to follow, and yet the film’s characters struggle to adhere to them resulting in gruesome consequences. —Bailey Moore
