PREHEAT is an emerging dance film festival that began in an east Austin backyard in 2022. Our festival prioritizes BIPOC and queer storytellers, and celebrates screendance as a hybrid art form that merges choreography and cinematography. This lens of making and experiencing work is exciting to us because of its emergent, alive, trans-media, and continually evolving nature. 

In this year’s selection of films, viewers can expect trash, crash, disorientation, rubber gloves, risk, balance, hair down, architecture, and lots of movement. In between two film blocks, enjoy a special live halftime show. Join us afterwards for a moderated Q+A with the filmmakers, if you’re into that sort of thing.
