Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, I cried with laughter, with relief, with joy at being in the theater again, while watching Jackass Forever. Like Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the TV in the memes, I felt like these were my boys! Back, on the big screen, doing things to their bodies that seemed beyond belief. I’d changed in my own way, survived a near-death experience, lost and gained friends, and seeing them back again, all I could think was, “It’s good to be home.” Johnny Knoxville and his crew bring on new friends while still retaining the old Jackass spirit, and it all serves as a reminder that pain is temporary, that bodies can survive so much more than we think, and that friends are forever.
