the one movie from your childhood that is actually just as good as you remember it. when i told my mom i was having a movie night w my friend to watch this masterpiece of cinema, she couldn’t fathom why over 20 years later i was still gleefully watching this movie. to any spongebob fan, the answer is obvious: this was the last project the show’s creator, Stephen Hillenburg, worked on as show runner. the amount of love and care Hillenburg put into creating the world and people of Bikini Bottom was obvious in the precursor seasons, and the movie feels like a celebration of his work and commitment because he cranks his passion for this lil sponge to an 11. from the colorful animation to exploring themes such as the nuances of adulthood, this movie is a treat for the audience to experience, no matter the age.
