Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp’s Fucking Identical Twins was a crass, absurdist off-Broadway show that filtered the basic framework of a stage musical through the lens of irredeemable characters who exclusively learned the wrong lessons. Only one man could tell this tale on the big screen: Seinfeld and Borat writer/director Larry Charles, famous for letting the worst in his characters shine. Retitled as the slightly more palatable Dicks: The Musical, with a cast featuring Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and the screen debut of Megan Thee Stallion, all the elements were in place for A24’s first musical to be a modern camp classic in 2023.

There was only one problem: nobody showed up. I had a blast in my empty theater during its paltry initial run, subsequently making it my mission to begin the cult of this idiotic Parent Trap gone berserk. Don’t miss this tale of two immoral chauvinist twins separated at birth who try to reunite their parents and learn the truth about life, love, genitals, and even God, who also narrates this important parable. Once you meet the Sewer Boys (they’re gay culture!) you’ll be telling everyone you know about how Dicks can change your life!
