In the nebulous media landscape of the early late aughts, there was a yearning for the entertainment of days past, but few art forms saw a resurgence quite like burlesque. Bolstered by the films Moulin Rouge! and Chicago, the aesthetic took over the better part of the decade, the masses intoxicated by the glamorous, cheeky sensuality of days past.

Steve Antin's 2010 film Burlesque is an amalgamation of those influences combined with the romantic comedy beats of other 00s films like Coyote Ugly and Step Up. Come for Christina Aguilera as the unconvincingly shy small-town girl, stay for Cher as her Whiplash-esque mentor. Wagon Wheel Watusi!
