After a decade of making hit after hit, New American legend Robert Altman capsized his Hollywood career with his off-the-rails live-action imagining of Popeye. Altman and Robert Evans built their own Sweethaven on the island of Malta, and with an endless supply of cocaine, churned out a cartoonish, nonsensical musical. Robin Williams makes his feature debut as the mumbling, pipe-smoking sailor, with Shelley Duvall reuniting with Altman once again as a pitch-perfect Olive Oyl.
