It’s not easy to string together multiple coherent thoughts about a film which had (allegedly) three directors and in which every third line of dialogue feels like it was written by Robert Frost. You can enter this movie at any moment and find yourself instantly confused, tickled, exhilarated, or gagged. Were it not for Val Kilmer’s astonishingly affecting and enthralling portrayal of Doc Holliday (one of the only guys to ever live with a better name than Val Kilmer), you could probably shuffle these scenes up like an old deck of whiskey stained saloon cards and play them out of order in one of those dark projector rooms one finds in a fine art museum. 

The revolvers would still blast and sizzle, the mustaches would still tickle, the villainous gang would still wear matching red sashes, the horses would still be horses, and the dudes… well… the dudes would still rock.
