Stan Lathan’s 1973 concert documentary came out long before Questlove’s Summer of Soul but was widely incredibly difficult to view. Thanks to a 2024 restoration the film is back and looks and sounds as good as ever. Set in Chicago during Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton’s Save the Children benefit concert featuring a who’s who of soul artists. Marvin Gaye, the Jackson 5, Roberta Flack, Curtis Mayfield, Gladys Knight, the list goes on and on.
