Dubbed the best Zombie movie since Shaun of the Dead, Shinichiro Ueda’s meta horror comedy One Cut of the Dead felt like a breath of life in the oversaturated and stale sub-genre that is zombie-comedy upon its release in 2017. On its surface, a B-movie about a D-movie zombie horror film that gets attacked by real zombies, One Cut of the Dead is full of clever ideas and delightful surprises. A film that benefits from going in as blind as possible, do yourself a favor and don’t look up the plot. If you like zombies, if you like movies, come check out One Cut of the Dead and discover a new genre favorite.
