Director brian taylor (crank, crank: high voltage, etc) presents russ meyer's sex and violence soaked masterpiece beyond the valley of the dolls (1970). once upon a time in Hollywood, 20th Century Fox inexplicably handed a studio budget and mainstream IP to drive-in sexploitation's greatest auteur... with a batshit script from first time screenwriter roger ebert, BVD is simultaneously a satire, a melodrama, a rock musical, a comedy, a violent exploitation picture, a skin flick and a moralistic expose (with the sharon tate murders still fresh in the headlines) of what the opening crawl called “the oft-times nightmarish world of show business.”
